Basketball Game Clock and Scoreboard Operator
Central Middle
Reports To: Athletic Coordinator and Principal
Pay Rate: $10.10 per hour
Job Summary: To help ensure each basketball game runs smoothly by operating the scoreboard and managing the official time of each game.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills with game officials/referees and coaches required
- Knowledge and understanding of basic basketball rules required
- Experience as a game official/official timer preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Essential Job Functions:
- Become familiar with clock/scoreboard/control panel
- Effectively communicate with other game officials/referees
- Dedicate focus and attention on clock and referee(s) for the duration of the game and demonstrate quick reaction time
- Start and stop the time of the game at the signal of the referee(s)
- Manage the game clock during the entirety of the game including pregame, break periods and overtime as needed
- Demonstrate impartiality and fairness towards all teams involved
- Accurately maintain the scoreboard and buzzer
- Resolve errors or clock related issues promptly when they arise
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, jump, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors depending upon the sport.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Terms of Employment:
